“Love consists in this, that two solitudes protect and touch and greet each other.” – Rainer Maria Rilke
David & Alison, 9 years in the making.
The rehearsal dinner took place at Second Story Brewing. Photographing the rehearsal means I get a first hand look at the dynamics that the following day may hold. The anticipation of the friends and family can always be felt in the room.
I had been coming off of a very long week of shooting but the energy in the room was contagious. I knew almost instantly that the following day was not only going to be a huge celebration but was going to commemorate something pretty special. Within feet of leaving the restaurant I was already contacting Victoria, the second photographer for the following day, expressing how extremely excited I was; gushing about how fantastic not only the couple was but their friends and family as well.
Friday, September 23rd was a perfect Autumn day. Quite possibly the first Fall weather Philadelphia has felt this year. And it came in the nick of time. The sun was just warm enough, with a slight breeze to balance the temperature.
Alison is calm and collected and carries herself in an unhurried manner. Her wedding day was no different. She spent the morning prepping with her girls, as the boys relaxed and dressed at the couple’s home.
David and Alison are highschool sweethearts. I found it so inspiring the stories laced throughout the ceremony of how these two grew up together but somehow managed to keep their identities. Upon graduation they ended up going to separate colleges (In my biased opinion, David chose the best school of them all, Temple University), vowing to remain true to one another but not allowing themselves to miss out on any experiences. And it worked. They created their individual worlds but successfully included each other within it. Alison’s friends became Davids’ and vice versus. The wedding day was a testament of that.
Victoria and I often found ourselves looking at one another and expressing, “I love this day.” From the fantastic bridal party, adoring family and the sweetest couple around, this wedding was nothing short of special. The kind of day we walk away from and are simply left grateful to be a part of.
And then there was the reception…for anyone in attendance I’m sure they would say it was one of the best parties they have been to. With the music mixed by DJ TJ Varano, this crew danced the night away.
It truly was an honor to photograph your love story, David & Alison. Thank-you for allowing us to be a part of it. Have the best time in Greece!
