WARNING: I’m about to get sappy.
Kristina Diane Witmer and Myself became best friends in 1st grade. Throughout our past 16 years a lot has happened, yet we remain close. I have had the privilege of going through the awkward elementary stage, by her side. Middle school we tried to act rebellious and high-school we dealt with a lot of changes as I transferred to a nearby public school.
I remember hearing about her “friend” Travis, soon after I started college. I met him that summer and knew that this guy wasn’t like the ones in the past. This guy was Kristin’s forever. It may sound a bit cliche, but true. I’ve already had the privilege of sharing the memories of many friends getting hitched, but it’s different with this girl.
When you’re a little girl your mind dreams. There is no trust issues or cynicism formed from life experiences. You share these unbounded dreams with your best friend. We talked about who we would marry, kids and what we wanted our future to look like. And I can truly say, Kristin has hers.
Although I will now have to hand over my title as Kristin’s best friend, I can’t think of anyone more deserving than Travis. They simply work. He makes her happy and supports her dreams.
It has been an honor to see her become the person she is today. I admire her strength and passion for life. She openly loves God and shares her faith with those around her. I couldn’t be more pleased with the guy she will spend the rest of her life with. So far, we have been in every season of each others lives and I am looking forward to the next.
Congrats Kristin and Travis! Is it next summer yet?
