“And if love be madness, may I never find sanity again.” – John Mark Green
Tucked away in the rolling hills of the Poconos is a little lodge, overlooking Lake Paupac. It is simply breathtaking. The leaves have just begun to turn their various shades of yellow, orange and red, and while the date read September 9th, It felt more like early October. It was a crisp morning when Victoria and I ventured to the lodge to meet this bride and groom. Yovana was anxiously awaiting to get the day going. She is a planner through and through, and every detail was orchestrated perfectly, even from a world away in California where the two reside. But the day final had arrived and everything was coming into place.
Yosef and Yovana met in college at a party. Yos made fun of her rain boots and she challenged him to a game of beer pong. They told one another their names and both could not quite believe the similarities. And so this epic Yo-Yo love story began.
Their life has been an adventure, from the ups and downs of changed jobs, moving across the country, to sledding down the Switzerland ski slopes or climbing out of the Grand Canyon. This couple is not one to simply let life go by, they seek the thrills and embrace the seasons and through it have created this epic existence.
Back at Paupac, guests began to arrive for the celebration. I am fairly certain we have never photographed a wedding with such cultural diversity. Friends and family traveled in from all over the world, creating this amazing collection of stories and relationships, all meeting in this little paradise that had grown so important to the story of Yovanna and Yoseph.
While the sentimentality of the day was strong, it was equally paired with a whole bunch of fun. I could not stop laughing at these bunch of girls who could not be more excited to share in this day with their dear friend. The constant theme of tequila throughout the day was just downright amazing. And the dancing into the night was a party to be remembered.
What an amazing day with an even more amazing couple. Yet again, we are humbled to be able to document such incredible love stories. Could not be more happy for the new Mr. & Mrs. Becher!
