This heat wave in Pennsylvania may be over, but we’re still thinking about it with Steve and Felicia’s wedding. July 20th was the hottest day of the year so far, and though they didn’t get their planned outdoor ceremony, the brand new indoor space at the Barn at Stoneybrooke was the perfect place to escape the heat.
Along with that new ceremony space there is a groomsmen lounge where Steve and his guys prepped for the day, while upstairs the girls got ready in their own suite. Felicia’s mom, mother-in-law and Maid of Honor all helped her into her dress, and it was all everyone could do to hold back their tears as she was buttoned into the white beaded gown. After a first look with her dad Felicia shared a few special moments with both of her parents.
Steve and Felicia stood back to back and read the vows the other had written to them, raising the anticipation to an all time high. When they were finished they turned around to see each other for the first time and both grinned from ear to ear. They met up with their bridal party and the excitement continued. Since the temperature was only rising as the day went on, we tried to take advantage of the indoor spaces as much as possible, but we did convince them to brave the heat for just a few minutes.
Guests began arriving and the bridal party awaited backstage. Steve took his place at the front of the room, and the girls lead the way before Felicia made her way down the aisle with her dad. Felicia and Steve said their vows and exchanged rings, and put together a decorative heart symbolizing their new relationship. And after a kiss, they were pronounced husband and wife! Guests then enjoyed cocktails and snacks as the newlyweds spent a little time with their family and friends.
During the reception we snuck the couple out for a few photos at sunset, hoping the temperature had cooled a little, it hadn’t but it was nice for them to step away for a few minutes away to take in the day. Back inside everyone danced the night away and snacked on cake and dessert from the s’mores bar.
