Out of town weddings are some of the best. One of my favorite things in life is going to a new city where no one knows my name and exploring. I especially love going to a place that holds value to my clients. It is pretty great seeing friends and family making the trip to a hand picked location by the bride and groom.
This time the location was Owego, NY. A charming little town tucked away in rural NY. The town center was gorgeous with charming Victorian houses, little bookstores, coffee shops and antiques lined along the water of the Susquehanna River. The area was dripping with character.
Miles away was a location particularly special to
Shawn and Liz. Liz’s great aunt and uncle live
on a gorgeous property surrounded by woods and perfectly positioned beside Lake Michelle. A slight breeze paired with the high 70’s temperature; the ceremony took place on a gorgeous sunny afternoon.
The whole day was oozing with the personal flair of Shawn and Liz; a country touch with cowboy boots and a barn reception. Shawn and Liz met in high school and continued their relationship while both attending school at Temple University, where I had the pleasure of meeting them both. Those in attendance represented all walks of the life they have already built together, from friends they have known for years, family and mutual college friends. They are smiley, goofy and completely comfortable with one another and definitely know how to have a good time. Thanks to the excellent DJing of John from Eclipse Entertainers the crowd let loose and celebrated with Shawn and Liz into the night.
As Jenessa and myself left that evening we had to stop and stare at the sight above us. Now a city girl, I sometimes forget how gorgeous an open night sky can be. Right above The Barn was a cloudless sky with a thousand twinkling stars, a perfect ending to a flawless day. Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Ropars!
