One of the favorite aspects of my job is how it seems to continually reconnect me with people that I grew up with, went to school with or crossed paths with over the years. I transferred highschools my junior year, leaving my comfortable Christian school in search of a new adventure at a public highschool neighboring my childhood home. Even before school began, I joined the field hockey team, where I quickly formed fast friends that would help the transition go seamlessly. Ash Marsh was one of these first friends. She was a year above me and welcomed me into the new environment. Now nearly 10 years since graduation, I got to reconnect with her as she embarks on her new adventure of engagement and marriage.
Ashley and Kyle met at that same highschool, and although the years have brought some ups and downs, for Kyle it was always Ash (and vice versa). Ashley and Kyle were worried that they would be awkward in front of the camera, but within minutes their nerves seemed to melt away. They have this fun quirkiness to their relationship. Ashley is still the same old energetic and bubbly personality, while Kyle seems to steady her and bring a calming presence to their relationship. Together, they are perfect. They are both super chill and laid back, which made the interactions authentic and comfortable.
Their engagement session was one for the books. Besides the weather being unbelievably gorgeous, a random stranger stopped to give them a congratulations and $20 for a drink. Later, atop a parking garage with golden hour in full swing, mutual congratulations were shared with a bride and groom who were also taking their photos. A foreshadowing, as the venue this couple was celebrating at is the same venue Kyle & Ashley will be returning to in May.
It is bound to be quite the celebration and I CANNOT wait.
