The After Wedding Session:
It isn’t a secret; a wedding day can be stressful. Months and sometimes years are spent planning and preparing for one day. And then it is here and it happens and somehow everything falls into place.
My favorite time to capture during a wedding is the short time we get to whisk away the bride and groom. Away from the crowd, they are able to bask in one another’s presence. Their glow is undeniable, as they get lost in the moment. They are married. They are husband and wife and it seems no moment could top the one they are in.
But things happen, the wedding day gets crazy and the timeline sometimes gets scrunched. It is my job to help move things along as quickly and as smoothly as possible. We always have those moments with just the bride and groom, but at times it gets cut shorter than expected.
So the After Wedding Session was born.
When someone hears about this they question the necessity of it. Obviously, a wedding can happen flawlessly without an After Wedding Session planned. But here are the top five reasons why I love them:
1. Less stress on the wedding day
An After Wedding Session typically takes place the next evening or a few days after the couple returns from the honeymoon. This means, during the actual wedding day, there is less stress on needing to get every epic portrait of the couple. Obviously, many images are taken of the two but an after wedding session allows for so much more.
2. An excuse to wear that expensive attire once more
A wedding dress, and a tux for that matter, are expensive. In most cases you wear it once and only pull it out to show the kids twenty years later. An after wedding session allows for you to get back in to that gorgeous gown and show it off once more.
3. Location
An After Wedding Session can literally be anywhere; from an epic rooftop overlooking the city or the pond where the couple shared their first kiss. Didn’t have your wedding on the beach? Well, we can still make those gorgeous images happen. The possibilities are endless.
4. More time for creativity
Because there is no time limit and no restriction on
location, there is no limit to the creativity that can happen. It allows for us to push past the typical and take our time to create something amazing!
5. Lights, Lights, Lights
It isn’t a secret, I LOVE off camera lighting. It adds a whole other dimension to images pushing them far past the usual. Depending on timeline, I will pull out the lights during a wedding, but we are almost always under some type of constraint. An after wedding session allows me to pull out all the stops, resulting in some jaw dropping images.
