“We loved with a love that was more than love.”
-Edgar Allan Poe
One of the many things I love about Philadelphia is that, while it is is this big bustling city, there are certain times of the day it quiets. A serene peace covers the place. You can walk the streets late at night and are not bombarded by people or go for a quiet run along the water and forget the 1.5 million neighbors around you. This also happens in the early morn, right before sunrise. The occasional runner passes by, or the nurse headed to (or leaving from) his shift; but there is a quiet tranquility about the place, a calm before the storm. Because as soon as the sun peaks out, the hustle and bustle begins.
It was this peaceful quiet that Haley and I found ourselves in the morning of Kamen and Nichole’s wedding. An unusual time for our weekend clocks, but a nice break from the norm. Some might be concerned that the prep would not be underway by our 7:30 am arrival time, but not when Nichole is the bride. We walked into a beautifully lit space, expected from a venue like the Logan, with a wall of windows overlooking Logan Square. Last minute touches were being placed on the bride and bridesmaids and the smell of bacon filled the room as breakfast was served. The excitement for the day ahead could be felt from the moment we entered.
The calendar said August 5, but it may as well have been early May with the cool temperatures and slight breeze. Kamen turned to see his bride in the courtyard and a smile enveloped his face. We ventured to both the Rodin Museum and The Barnes Foundation with the best bridal party around. The deep green of the girl’s dresses paired perfectly with the historic stone backdrops. Nichole was nothing short of a goddess as her hand painted gold dress caught the wind just right.
The ceremony was short and sweet as the two said their I Do’s amongst such a combination of friends and family who literally traveled from all over the world to witness this union.
Nichole’s eyes widened and tears formed at the sight of her reception space, and a sight it was! Barnwood tables filled the rooms, paired with the classy feel of the Logan, it was the perfect combination of rustic and chic.
You wouldn’t have known it was mid afternoon once this party got started. The dance floor was packed as the guests celebrated Kamen & Nichole. Macaroons and mini creme brûlée were served to top off the exquisite palette that was presented all day. We stole the couple away to the rooftop as they cheers to their newest chapter.
We couldn’t believe it was only 5 p.m. by the time we were loading up our car. What a fun-filled day and beyond that, a true celebration of an amazing couple! Thank-you for choosing us to be a part of it!
