Tessa here…

I shot my first wedding in October of 2011. I really had no idea what I was doing and was self proclaimed unqualified for the job. But I am so very grateful for those that trusted me in the early years. Since then, photography has become my one great passion. School taught me a lot, but it has been the day to day grind that has molded me the most. Growing up in Lancaster, a lot of people get married young. For me, I married my career early on and have never looked back. I LOVE THIS ART MEDIUM, I love being a business owner and I love continuing to learn something that I know I will never fully arrive at; it makes life interesting.

Cue 2016, one of the best and worst years of my life. I had been out of school for a couple years and things had finally begun to take off.
I
was
so
busy.
Which I will never complain about, but with it came the cost of my sanity. With all that, I felt it was time to start up my internship program again. Which I have always tried to take super seriously. I myself have been a part of both good and bad internships and wanted mine to be one that the individual felt like they walked away with a much better understanding of photography.

I was asked to speak at my Alma Mater, Tyler School of Art, the arts school at Temple University. This was just over a year ago and here I met Haley Adair. We grabbed coffee shortly after and I knew within moments of meeting her that I was not about to offer the internship to anyone but her.

I had always wanted to create a team that was bigger then myself. While I have loved starting something from scratch, there is nothing quite like building something with other like-minded artists and putting your hands together to create something beautiful. Art school taught me the joy of this.

So I knew, after working with Haley for a summer, that not only was she a talented artist, but she is also a quality human being. With that all being said, I figured it was time to expand our little team of myself, Victoria and Jen to include an Associate Photographer.

Drum role please…

Beginning in August 2018, Haley will be offering her wedding services through Tessa Marie Images as an associate photographer and I am so stinkin’ proud to have her as part of the team. She is talented, has an amazing eye and a thirst to continue to grow in this art. I am so excited to see the amazing experiences she creates for our clients and the lasting memories that she will capture with each passing wedding. Guys, book her, because she is awesome.

So as we venture into this new season, I felt it was time for you all to get to know a bit about her…

Haley here…

I grew up in a tiny town in Lancaster County, PA, but always knew I was a city girl, so when I finally came to Temple and Philly I knew instantly it was the place for me. Transferring to Tyler School of Art was one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself and my photography career. I freelanced my way through high school and college with the plan of starting my own business after graduation. But since the opportunity to work with TMI presented itself, I haven’t looked back!

My love for photography started around age 5 with a pink Barbie camera in my grandparent’s front yard. I’ve had a few different ideas of what I wanted to be when I grew up, but the one thing that never changed was that I always knew I’d be some kind of artist. If I wasn’t a photographer, I would be an interior designer.

Photography is my pretty much my whole life. It is not only my job, but also my biggest passion, my major in school, and my hobby. I love being able to create art out of love. I’m so thankful I have a career where I can mesh my fine art background with my love of organization and planning, learning everything there is to know about photography and giving my clients images they will cherish for generations. My favorite part of wedding photography is simply the honor I feel in the couples choosing me to capture one of the biggest days of their lives, and trusting me to create photos that represent them and their love. I never get tired of seeing happy couples, shooting weddings makes me believe in love more than anything I’ve ever seen.

– I don’t drink coffee.
– I’m a vegetarian.
– I don’t like donuts and I only like cake on wedding days, everyone here thinks my food habits are weird. (Tessa here… I make fun of her continually…I guess I can let this slide)
– I love all animals, but especially my two cats.
– I don’t even mind moving because I love redecorating my homes.
– I love cooking and baking and I’m always up for trying a new recipe or dessert.
– I’m not a morning person and refuse to believe I ever will be. (I make her come in at 9 am on editing days, she deserves an award)
– My mood on a daily basis highly depends on how I feel my hair looks.
– French fries are my favorite food group.
